Cedar Point -- the Roller Coaster Capital of the World (14 so far) -- is beautifully sited in Sandusky, Ohio, on the Lake Eire peninsula about halfway between Cleveland and Toledo, making it the perfect Midwestern getaway.

But, it isn't just location that propels this destination. Oh no. It's thrills, chills, entertainment galore from a state-of-the-art IMAX Theater to the Snoopy shaped pool at the Breaker's Express, Cedar Point's "budget" hotel option with lots of luxury for an unbeatable price.

For over 100 years, since 1870, families have stayed together and played together at Cedar Point. The park entered the new millennium with the addition of Millennium Force, the first roller coaster in the world over 300 feet. It's only one of the seven world-record breaking rides among Cedar Point's 68 rides --- a record in itself, no other amusement park on the planet boasts as many rides.

Rides are only part of the fun. Cedar Point has a marina, a beach, and a water park. Soak City Water Park offers an array of options fromlow-motion

areas suitable to take small tykes to Bubbles Swim-Up Bar where visitors over 21 can sip a cocktail in the swim of things. You can choose between three different air-conditioned theaters presenting musical reviews ranging from country honky-tonk to a fantasy extravaganza. If you aren't willing to go indoors, you'll encounter outdoor performers as well.

Cedar Point is family friendly with both stroller and wheel chair rental available. You'll find picnic tables and ATMs in the park. Smoking is allowed, but not while waiting in line for a ride. Adult beverages are served to over 21s. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times, including entering and leaving the park. Swimwear must be covered up when
appropriate. Cedar Point works hard to provide a family vacation that Mom and Dad can enjoy.

When you need a nibble, you'll find a Food Services cart or other service at over one hundred places in the park. Coasters is a time trip back to the era of "Happy Days" serving up thick shakes, big burgers, and fudge
brownies. Johnny Rocket's also has an in park outlet. Macaroni's dishes up pizza and the marina's Bar Harbor's menu is filled with seafood.

On Ohio's North Shore, Cedar Point sits on Lake Erie, the warmest and shallowest of the Great Lakes. The weather turns chilly dropping into the forties during October and snowfall can come anytime from Halloween until Easter. Spring and fall are mild and pleasant. Summer can be surprisingly hot even with the breeze off the lake. You'll want to drink a lot of liquid while you tour the park and be certain to slather on sunscreen.

Cedar Point is just over a hundred miles from Cleveland, close enough to combine a visit to the park with a pilgrimage to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Both Cleveland and Toledo are easy air destinations making Cedar Point an easy break for amusement park enthusiasts too distant to drive from home.
